Suitable for young children who have played a few months or longer, and are not quite ready for hour long lessons Violin Studio Policies: The violin relies on muscle memory and must be practiced every day. Missing even a day of practice can cause loss of muscle memory and frustration. It is better to practice every day for a short time than to skip days and then play several hours in one day. Practice should be done with focus. Students (or other adult) should take notes during the lesson so they know what to practice. Older students can take their own notes; young students require parents to observe the lessons, take notes, and be the teacher at home. Students sign up for lessons on a monthly basis during the school year. It is possible to try out a lesson before committing to a month. Lessons are a commitment. Absences should be reserved for unavoidable conflicts, and students should notify me at least one day in advance if they know there is a lesson they cannot make. If absences are rare I can generally accommodate a make-up lesson. In order to qualify for a make-up the lesson should be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Students can stop their lessons at the end of the month, but I do ask for 2 weeks' notice if a student chooses to stop. Summer lessons are on a week to week basis, with no limits on absences. It is recommended that new students take a lesson at least once every 2 weeks, and continuing students take at least one lesson every 3 weeks during the summer months.
